A Spanish coin depicted by Spanish newspapers claiming to be a photograph allegedly taken by a port worker from the treasure found by Odyssey Marine exploration has been dismissed as a fake.
In comments to El Pais, Greg Stemm spokesperson for the company dismissed the image as not being that of one of the coins found by his team, claiming that any newspaper claiming it to be part of the treasure would be making false allegations.
At the same time observers have pointed out that similar images have been found on other websites posted prior to the treasure being found.
This was further highlighted by Shaun Copsey, who today alleged to gibfocus that the coin was allegedly taken from the Franklin Mint's website and made unclear. "It's a coin from 1780. (Here's the original picture:

Spain has continued to keep its pressure on the US and Britain to explain the origins of the treasure. In the meantime, the Spanish press has continued its onslaught over the origins of the treasure, in much the same way as it has on previous occasions slammed on Gibraltar.
In the meantime the two vessels operating for the company continue in Gibraltar. Both vessels were today berthed opposite the Naval Base Tower with little to no activity observed around the port area earlier this morning.
